In basic terms, MultiWaves™ are soft-focused, electro-hydraulically generated acoustic waves with a low pressure profile. Despite the fact that MultiWaves are distinctly different from the shockwaves historically used to destroy kidney stones, it has been the Achilles heel of our industry that the term “shockwave” has survived to migrate into wound care and tissue regeneration.
Time and again, our prospective partners, customers and investors have encouraged us to rethink the word "shockwave" and introduce a better term, a better brand, that conveys the spectrum of energies involved (Heat, Electromagnetic, Acoustic and Light) and makes a more positive first impression; thus the introduction of the MultiWave concept.
What are the benefits of MultiWave Technology?
TRT, LLC is the first and only company to recognize and patent (pending) the unique benefits of electro-hydraulically generated, soft-focused planar MultiWaves. As was noted, MultiWaves are distinctly different from the shockwaves historically utilized in medicine to disintegrate kidney stones or to initiate healing in tendonopathies and non-healing fractures. MultiWaves are non-destructive, reduce pain, stimulate the generation of new, healthy tissue and can be targeted on the much larger surface areas required for wound healing.
TRT is also the first to understand the therapeutic value of MultiWaves and the multiple, beneficial responses they generate in a biologic system. TRT realized that, despite what some companies purported in the past, it is not necessary to mechanically induce an injury at either a fracture or wound site in order to initiate healing. That kind of “one step backward, two steps forward” approach to healing was costly, required anesthesia, and was difficult to explain.
TRT discovered that focused, painful shockwaves were not required to initiate healing and that soft-focused, anesthesia-free MultiWaves produce an abundance of positive biologic effects including: Nitric Oxide and Growth Factor Production, Stem Cell Migration, and Anti-bacterial Effects among others. It is our unique perspective that, unlike our COMPETITORS’ efforts to DESTROY avascular, or bad tissue, MULTIWAVES STIMULATE healthy or good tissue to regenerate.
